The presence of a nickel mine in the lake Matano could not be separated from its history. Indigenous tribes have known Matano iron as a tool of war and life support since usual.

It took four million years of evolution to form Lake Matano. The presence of large amounts of fish in the lake Matano was passed by the citizens. On the north side of Lake Matano, there lived a predatory fish that mengamcam botini fish survival. These fishes often devour the baby fish is endemic.
